Looking for a wee creative pick-me-up? Fancy a couple of hours just for you, doing something fun and low-pressure in good company?Then our Sketchbook Club + Coffee Afternoons might be just the thing.
We open up the Design Suite at Adam Smith Theatre on the first Friday of every month for a relaxed, friendly and informal creative drop-in. Come along anytime between 2:30pm and 4:30pm, grab a cuppa, and take some time for yourself to sketch, doodle, chat, or simply enjoy the calm, inspiring atmosphere of the space.
Whether you’re a seasoned sketcher or someone who hasn’t picked up a pencil in years, you’re absolutely welcome here. You don’t need to be an “artist” – just bring along a sketchbook, a notebook, a bit of creative curiosity, or something you’ve been meaning to work on. There’s no agenda, no pressure and no expectation. Just good vibes and space to chill out.
So what happens at a Sketchbook Club + Coffee Afternoon?
Tea and coffee on tap, and a quiet buzz of friendly conversation. Some people will be sketching. Some will be exploring ideas or experimenting. Others might be trying out something new on one of our iPads.
You’re welcome to bring your own materials, or just turn up.
You could:
Try out Procreate on one of our iPads (we’ve got styluses ready to go)
Sit with a cuppa and see what everyone else is working on
Or just draw whatever you feel like in your sketchbook
It’s all about creating an inviting space to relax and recharge – no pressure, just a lovely excuse to be a bit creative, meet like-minded folk, and maybe leave with a fresh spark of inspiration.

A student working on a project

Or someone who just fancies a creative space to hang out for a bit
We’ve designed this to be a welcoming space for all. You don’t need to book, you don’t need to bring loads of stuff, and you don’t even need to be confident in your creativity. Just come as you are.
