Do you want to do sketch comedy, but don't know where to start? Hey, this is that place!
Join Forest Kinsey as he takes you through the process of forming rough and jagged ideas, and turning them into polished pieces of comedy over 8 weeks!
You will learn and write different types of sketches, just like you've seen on your favorite sketch show. Get direct one on one feed back from your instructor. Give and recieve feedback as you and your fellow students work together to brainstorm ideas and tweak drafts.
Each class culminates with a staged reading of your favorite piece preformed by our Advanced Long Form Class.
Wether you have written sketch and want constructed reps OR always wanted to try this class is perfect for an circumstance.
INCLUDES ONE TIME WRITING SESSION WITH RICK TALARICO FROM COMEDY CENTRALS KEEYLE AND PEELE
Classes take place Sundays from 11am-1pm, August 11 - October 6, 2024, with a staged reading of selected work Thursday, October 10th at 7:30pm. All at The Bird Comedy Theater in The Crossroads Arts District!
About the Teacher:
Born and raised in Kansas City, Forest Kinsey has been writing, performing, and filming sketch comedy since grade school. After growing up and receiving a bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Studies from the University of Kansas, Forest grew his skills with Comedy City, the KC Improv Company, and The Bird Comedy Theater. Forest has written and produced a plethora of shows and films, including DramaUrge (2021 KC Fringe, Best of Show), Keith’s Bread Saga (2020 KC Underground Film Festival, Best Local Film), The Anarchy Fun Time Show, The 4x4 Sketch Experiment, and The Bird Comedy Theater’s April Fools Show.
