ABOUT THE CLASS
Perfect for those brand new to sketch comedy and those with old drafts to dust off, this 8-week class is to help you explore the tenants and turn your vision and observations into sketch comedy.
This introductory course teaches the fundamentals of sketch comedy. But how?
Half classroom, half writers’ room, you'll gain hands-on sketch experience through in-person collaboration and weekly writing assignments.
We’ll explore and give you the tools to start creating sketches on your own. You'll learn and refine:
- sketch structure
- character creation
- comedic genres
No prior sketch writing experience required, though you should have access to a computer and be prepared to write outside of class time.

ABOUT THE LOCATION(S)
This class will mostly be located at The Cambridge Foundry, in a room called The Black Multi Room.
If you head in through the front of the Foundry, you'll see a staircase straight ahead. When you enter, walk forward through the entrance, and look to your right for the door. And if you need help, you can ask at the front table - The Foundry staff is ready to help!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Michael has been writing and performing comedy since 2014, and is a graduate of ImprovBoston’s comedy curriculum as well as Improv Asylum’s sketch program. Michael was a resident cast member of IB’s All Access and Harold Night shows and the head writer/co-producer of the Boston Sketch Company, which produced various shows and revues.He has performed improv across New England with a number of indie teams and his sketches have been featured on Mess + Finesse’s Somerville Night Live, and 2MB Studios’ QAW and Lost in Sketch. He is currently the sketch director of The Nova Show!
His comedic faves include Mr. Show, Kids in the Hall, and The State. Michael loves working with other sketch writers to help them best express their comedic ideas through their comedic ideas through scripts, all dogs, and most pizzas.
