In reflexology, we work on the principle that specific areas of the feet reflect corresponding parts of the body, including the skeletal system. By applying pressure to these reflex points, we aim to support natural healing, improve circulation, and encourage balance. For skeletal conditions, treatment focuses on key reflex zones. For arthritis (both osteo and rheumatoid), reflexologists work along the spine, joint areas (toes, ankles), and lymphatic reflexes to help reduce stiffness and support inflammation management. In cases of gout, attention is given to the big toe joint (linked to the head and neck but also commonly affected), as well as kidney and lymph reflexes to support waste elimination.
Hallux valgus (bunions) is addressed locally at the big toe joint and surrounding foot reflexes to ease discomfort and improve alignment. Osteoporosis treatment focuses on the spine reflex (medial edge of the foot) and endocrine glands, especially those linked to calcium balance.
Stress is treated by working the diaphragm line, solar plexus (center of the foot), and head/brain reflexes (toes), promoting deep relaxation.
To locate main skeletal reflexes on the feet:
Spine, Pelvis/hips: around the heel area
Knees
Shoulders: below the little toe area
Neck: base of the big toe
Head/skull: tips of the toes learn which bones are where and when to work them
By understanding these maps, reflexology can be used to support comfort, mobility, and overall wellbeing in a gentle, holistic way.
