Doors open at 4 P for beverages (including 21+ drinks) at Whiner Beer Company, with plant-based-friendly fare available for purchase from Meet Stop ((Josh link to Meet Stop by Ste Martaen)) Check-in and visiting with environmental and climate action partners begins at 5:15P. Ticket includes film and program; a 5:30P tour of The Plant’s acclaimed circular economy business incubator for the first 30 arriving guests (or a tour voucher for later-arriving guests to use until Jun 30), and one drink ticket for any Whiner Beer alcoholic or non-alcoholic draft offering (valid only for this event).
FILM DESCRIPTION: "Single-Use Planet" is a documentary film that investigates the issue of single-use plastic pollution, particularly focusing on the political and economic factors driving the excessive production of plastic, by examining the construction of new plastic manufacturing plants in the United States, primarily in Pennsylvania and Louisiana, and exploring how powerful industry lobbying influences policy decisions that contribute to the environmental crisis; it aims to highlight the need for systemic change to reduce single-use plastic waste by exposing the political forces behind its continued production. Winner of: Best U.S. Documentary, Santa Cruz Independent Film Fest/Best U.S. Documentary, Austin International Art Festival/Award of Distinction, IndieFEST Film Awards/Award of Excellence, Impact Docs/Award of Excellence, Accolade Global Film Competition.
