Loneliness Aware Week: Event Tuesday Evening 16th June 2026
With all the different community activities around, it’s hard to believe there’s a need for a special “Loneliness Awareness Week”. But it’s not as simple as that, is it?
Will I fit in, are they all “clicky”, I don’t mix well, I can’t play an instrument or sing, will I be any good at litter picking, gardening? etc., etc.
OK, so you may need a bit of motivation, but sometimes it’s as much about educating the community groups in how they welcome and support new members by being inclusive and supportive without being condescending or judgmental. Give it a try, might be fun?
We play ukuleles, we sing, we bang drums and tambourines, shake shaky things and generally have a good time every Tuesday evening in the upstairs function room at the Bowman from 7pm onwards. It’s free to attend due to donations and sponsorships. Or just watch, promise you will leave smiling.
We do have a bit of a performance troupe of the more proficient players. But believe me, they all started somewhere and happy to help beginners.
