Join Morton Contemporary Gallery for a one-night-only screening of the 3-time Academy Award-nominated film, Sing Sing, with special guest presenter, Pulitzer Prize-winning artist, Suave Gonzalez.
This compelling cinematic drama explores the groundbreaking "Rehabilitation Through the Arts" (RTA) program at Sing Sing Maximum Security Pr*son in NY. Led by Colman Domingo, whose portrayal of real-life RTA co-founder Divine G earned him an Academy Award nomination, the film follows incarcerated men finding hope and redemption through theatrical productions. Many cast members in this prodcution are formerly incarcerated men who once participated in the program, bringing their raw, lived experiences to the screen.
This screening is in affiliation with Morton Contemporary’s current exhibition WE ARE ALL DOING TIME which explores the inner lives & creative visions of 6 local artists impacted by America’s crisis of mass incarceration.
