We all know we’re supposed to swatch, but do we? And more importantly, do we know what to do with the information once we have it?
In this informative, hands-on workshop, Lori takes the mystery (and dread) out of gauge. You’ll learn how to “speed swatch” both flat and in the round, how to accurately measure and interpret your results, and how to confidently apply that information to patterns.
You'll learn how to:
- Create efficient, useful swatches
- Adjust needle size and tension to create fabric you love
- Accurately measure your body
- Determine your ideal garment ease
- Use simple math to reconcile your gauge with a pattern
- Understand why swatches can lie, and how to plan for it
By the end of this session, you’ll understand how to choose the right needles, yarn, size, and ease — and how to use gauge as a reliable starting point — so your finished garments fit beautifully the first time.
