Silk & NightWind

Chicago-born musical ensemble Silk and NightWind has spent years following the tradition of Chicago jazz musicians. NightWind has been in existence since the early 2000's, always staying true to the desires and passion of music innovation.

Silk and Nightwind never has had a desire to just cover songs and music. ,The mission statement of NightWind has always been to present our fans and audiences with our arrangements of contemporary Jazz pop, contemporary rhythm & blues, soul and groove music.

Silk & NightWind introduces our fans and audiences to our smooth original compositions and arrangements, along with our arrangements of some songs and music audiences know and love. Allowing our fans and audiences to experience and enjoy the performance of songs and music in ways they have never heard and/or experienced before.

This is why Silk & NightWind has become known as one of the Midwest's best-kept secrets.

Playing with contemporary greats such as Roy Ayers and Vernell Brown Jr., (a protege of Herbie Hancock) has taught Silk and NightWind one essential musical philosophy....know yourself and be true to oneself.

Musical influences include such artists as Sade, Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell, Smokey Robinson, Incognito, and Al Jarreau to mention a few. These are the talents that have shown Silk & NightWind the way down the proverbial music rabbit hole.

Not meaning to name drop but members of NightWind have played with some of the industry's most significant artists such as Lalah Hathaway, Will Downing, Boz Scaggs, Usher, Maysa, Brian McKnight, and Prince to name a few.
