Silenced Opposition in Russia: Russia’s Political Prisoners and Grassroots Action – A Panel Discussion with Experts and Activists
We invite you to a panel discussion held in honour of Alexei Navalny, dedicated to discussing political repression in Russia, the plight of political prisoners, and ways to support them. The event is organised by the Eastern European Student Society of Trinity College Dublin and the Letters from Dublin community, aiming to raise awareness and funds to assist those imprisoned for their beliefs.

The panel discussion will be conducted in English and will include a slideshow presentation. After the speakers' presentations, there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
Admission is FREE, either online or in person. There is also an opportunity to buy a donation ticket. All proceeds will be donated to OVD Info, which is an independent human rights defence and media group In Russia, helping those who are unjustly persecuted.

Political Prisoners in Russia: A Brief Historical Overview
Host: Dr. Sofya Anisimova
Info: Sofya Anisimova is Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Univeristy College Dublin working on Russian history with particular focus on Russian Civil War and the First World War. She holds a PhD degree from the University of St Andrews and MA degree from King's College London.
Who Are Russia's Political Prisoners?
Host: Ivan Drobotov
Info: Ivan Drobotov is a Russian civic activist and an employee of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), a coordinator of the "Letters to Political Prisoners" community. In 2022 Ivan became a defendant in a criminal case connected to the opposition movement "Vesna". working in Alexey Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation (ACF) , he is a defendant in the "Vesna" case and the coordinator of the "Letters to Political Prisoners" Community. Mykyta Laptiev is a Ukrainian refugee from Donbass, brother of russian political prisoner Daniil Klyuka.

Info: Elena will speak about her experience hosting bilingual letter-writing events in Minnesota, the meaningful correspondence that has taken place over the years, and why these efforts are so impactful. She will also provide insights into the international campaign for the release of 120 critically ill political prisoners and offer actionable ways you can get involved to make a difference.

Info: Organiser of the "Letters from Dublin" initiative. Yulia will speak about her experience with the initiative, the importance of supporting political prisoners through letter-writing, and how solidarity actins make a difference. She will also share ways to actively support political prisoners right now.
