This taster day delivered by Joha Muñe will offer a hands-on introduction to the craft of signwriting. IYou will work on an individual piece to take home, learning some of the key skills required in hand painted signs, using traditional tools and methods. All materials, and lunch, will be provided. No experience necessary!
This workshop is being delivered as part of the All Ireland Heritage Skills Programme public events series, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. These workshops aim to increase opportunities for everyone to get involved with and learn more about heritage skills.
Who should attend?
This taster day is suitable for anyone with an interest in signwriting, who would like the opportunity to have a go and pick up basic skills. No experience is required, and you will be guided by an experienced artist.

Places are limited to 12 attendees in order to maximise participant learning and safety. If you are no longer able to attend, please notify the organiser as soon as possible to allow your place to be released.

This event is limited to a maximum of 12 attendees. Attendees should wear sensible footwear, and it is advised that attendees wear warm clothing/ layers and may wish to wear overalls to protect clothing. Getting here:
There is limited parking at the depot, and participants are encouraged to take public transport wherever possible. The depot is located next door to Moira Train station, which has frequent trains to/ from Belfast. If attendees will require a car at the depot, please contact the event organiser to allow monitoring of car parking availability.
Trainers Overview:
The session will be led by traditional signwriter, gilder and calligrapher Johana Muñeton, better known in the industry as Joha Muñe. Originally from Colombia, Joha has travelled across the world learning her trade from expert craftspeople in, Porto, London and Amsterdam. She has made her home in Northern Ireland where she undertakes signwriting, gilding,murals and calligraphycommissions and delivers courses in traditional signwriting.
