Block Lettering Workshop with Ged Palmer at The Art Workers' Guild
Following a series of sold-out workshops in 2024, award-winning lettering artist Ged Palmer is excited to announce a new series of workshops at the historic Art Workers' Guild in Central London.
This workshop focuses on the foundational 'Block' Lettering style in the signwriting tradition. Ideal for both beginners and professionals, it covers essential brush control and techniques for creating this versatile style, used in professional signwriting, commercial lettering, and various artistic practice. Previous participants have come from backgrounds in scenic art, graphic design, calligraphy, type design, illustration, and fine arts. Brush control and a good eye for design are key transferable skills valuable across many disciplines.
Workshop Details
Students will learn and refine their brush lettering techniques under expert guidance. The workshop intoduces to the tools of the trade, explains the proper techniques of draftsmanship and a painting of variety of Block lettering styles. Participants will also have the opportunity to design their own hand-painted sign, exploring layout, color theory, and effects. Whether for personal projects or a career in lettering, this workshop is a great way to expand your skills and creative potential.
