Sierra Leone Sunday, January 11th , 10 a.m. First Church has a relationship with Sierra Leone dating back to the 1840s when we sheltered the Mende people who had rebelled and seized control of the slave ship La Amistad. That relationship deepened in 2004 when we were introduced to Hope Day School in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and committed to support the primary school in its educational mission.
Join us this Sunday as we celebrate our relationship and learn about the achievements and challenges of the young people, and how they inspire our faith. Make sure to plan to stay for Coffee Hour because Jael Williams will be serving some Sierra Leonean delicacies!
