The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU presents SID DANIELS: A Selection of Theatrical Works on Canvas and Paper, 2009–2025.This exhibition brings together four interrelated bodies of work that reflect Daniels’ long-standing engagement with theater, music, and set design. Influenced by the visual drama of 1930s and 40s Broadway, the elegance of Art Deco architecture, and the rhythmic sensibility of Brazilian jazz and Bossa Nova, his compositions unfold like choreographed environments.
Moving between abstract works on paper, fashion-inflected compositions, the Parasol Series, and architectural paintings on canvas, the exhibition presents painting as staging — where memory, movement, and design converge within carefully constructed space.
Opening Reception:
Sunday, April 19, 2026
3:00–5:00 PM
Museum Director Susan Pasternack will introduce the artist during the afternoon, followed by brief remarks from Daniels. Beverages will be served.
A 13-minute film surveying Daniels’ earlier New York and Miami projects — including murals, commercial art, and fashion-based works — will screen continuously throughout the exhibition, offering broader context to the works on view.
The exhibition remains on view through August 30, 2026.
