Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras): Evensong, Burial of Alleluia, Pancake Supper

Evensong is sung simply to plainsong (Gregorian chant) with the last utterances of the word 'Alleluia' before it is silenced in Lent. The Alleluia is then placed in its coffin. Pancake supper follows with entertainments by vocalists and pianists.
