Compline by Candlelight & Panpake Party
Join us for Compline by Candlelight in our medieval crypt chapel followed by a pancake party in church where all are always welcome.
5.30pm-5.45pm - Compline by Candlelight : Ancient prayers sung to meditative chant by a priest in the candlelit setting of our beautiful medieval crypt chapel. The chapel is accessed via a narrow staircase and small door.
6.00pm-7.30pm - Pancake Party : Share pancakes with us and explore other Lent Traditions. Free but donations welcome.
A place of prayer and sanctuary for over nine hundred years, St Olave Hart Street was built on the site of the Battle of London Bridge & dedicated to a Viking warrior who became King of Norway and a saint associated with healing miracles. The building survived the Great Fire thanks in part to one of our most famous parishioners Samuel Pepys, who described it as ‘our own church’.
