Join for a field day with Bumblebee Conservation Trust l looking for the illusive Shrill Carder Bee.
About this Event

Join Shrill carder bee project for a chance to meet our rarest bumblebee!

The day will start at The National Trust's Gupton farm campsite, where we will briefly learn about the management of the site and learn about the Shrill carder bee. Wales' fastest declining bumblebe with a brief intro to identification tips in the field.

we will then explore the site making our way down to Freshwater west dune, stoping to identify bumblebees and other pollinators. participants will have a chance to contribute to national citizen science scheme Beewalk and learn from proffesional conservationists who are working to protect the species on site.

participantsd will then have the option to break for lunch (Don't forget to pack your sandwiches) at the dunes. before returning to Gupton farm.

This event is free and is suitable for adults of all abilities, including absolute beginners, although to get the most out of it we recommend familiarising yourself with some of the Trust's training webinars in identifying Common Bumblebees:

Please bring suitable clothing and provisions for an afternoon outdoors, all training materials and equipment will be provided free of charge.

Please meet at the camping barn for a 10.30 am start.

please be aware this event will be rescheduled in the event of poor weather where bumblebees are unlikely to be seen.

Our fee training courses are delivered as part of the Shrill carder bee project which is included in the 'Natur am Byth!' Programme. Natur am Byth partnership is Wales’ flagship Green Recovery project. It unites nine environmental charities with Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to deliver the country’s largest natural heritage and outreach programme to save species from extinction and reconnect people to nature. The parternship is funded by players of the National Lottery, Natural resources Wales, Welsh Government through The Landfill Disposals Tax communities scheme Administered by the WCVA, The Arts Council of Wales, The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and a number of other charitable trusts, foundations and corporate donors. Bydd y diwrnod yn dechrau yng ngwersyll fferm Gupton yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol, lle byddwn yn dysgu'n fyr am reoli'r safle ac yn dysgu am y wenynen gard Shrill. Y gacwn sy'n dirywio gyflymaf yng Nghymru gyda chyflwyniad byr i awgrymiadau adnabod yn y maes. Yna byddwn yn archwilio'r safle gan wneud ein ffordd i lawr i dwyni Freshwater West, gan stopio i adnabod cacwn a pheillwyr eraill. Bydd cyfle i gyfranogwyr gyfrannu at gynllun gwyddoniaeth dinasyddion cenedlaethol Beewalk a dysgu gan gadwraethwyr proffesiynol sy'n gweithio i amddiffyn y rhywogaeth ar y safle.

Yna bydd gan gyfranogwyr y dewis o gael egwyl am ginio (Peidiwch ag anghofio pacio'ch bagiau bwyd) wrth y twyni cyn dychwelyd i fferm Gupton.
