Let’s put on a Show and Serve! Please join my husband, family, and colleagues to support our fallen veterans and their families! No sign up, just show up! Bring everybody! RAIN OR SHINE.Everyone shows up for flag placement in time for Memorial Day but a fraction of people return the following weekend to remove them, usually leaving a couple hundred people to pull up thousands of flags! Flags are reused for sustainability purposes, so proper removal and handling are essential for subsequent years!
In addition to removal, flags need to be bundled and collected, placed in plastic bins that Flags for Fallen Vets provides. Please bring rags to lightly clean flag staffs if needed. Those with back or knee problems or small children can bring a lawn chair to do that.
A tote bag, bucket, or small wagon to put flags in while you pull will make it easier for you to grab a large number before seeking out a bin.
This cemetery is a beautiful tribute to the fallen and spouses interred here. It always leaves me awestruck as it’s one of the best in Texas. A line of Porsches, exotics, hot rods, motorcycles, as far as the eye can see would be a fitting tribute and compliment!
Section S (S1, S2, S3) by the entrance is where we'll start. Instead of meeting up ahead of time, just park as close as possible to the Section S areas for an early start. Official start is 9 am, but we choose to start earlier to beat the heat! Details and maps in a post in the Event Discussion!
BYO water/fluids and hydrate! Dress appropriately, bring gloves, wear shoes you are prepared to get dirty if rain persists leading up to the date. If rain is in the forecast bring a poncho, don’t forget sunscreen and/or hat if sunny. PLEASE DO NOT LET FLAGS TOUCH THE GROUND if possible.
Look forward to seeing you!
