Poor mobility in the spine and shoulders can lead to pain in the shoulders, neck, and lower back. Prolonged sitting contributes to these issues by causing stiffness and muscle weakness. Engaging in repetitive, mono-structural activities (running, biking, etc.) or one-dimensional exercises (machine-based strength training, bench press, deadlift, etc.) without incorporating mobility exercises may further limit flexibility, increasing the risk of discomfort and injury.Led by personal trainer Rick Boisvert, the 90-minute Shoulders, Scap, & Spine Clinic introduces participants to methods for exploring, expanding, and enhancing the dynamic, multi-dimensional capacity of the upper body.
Participants will be introduced to beneficial movement, mobility, and strength work. With increased freedom of movement, pain and injuries can be alleviated, leading to more efficient and effective movement patterns.
This clinic is suitable for most but is not recommended for those with injury or severe restrictions (unless approved by your doctor or physical therapist). Please note that this is not a 90-minute workout, but a chance to learn how to care for oneself. Participants are encouraged to take notes for future reference.
Shoulders, Scap, & Spine Clinic takes place on Saturday, April 5 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm (rescheduled from March 29). The cost of the workshop is $30. Members receive a 10% discount.
