Join us for a full day of learning in a professional photography studio in London.
In this one of a kind masterclass, you will learn how to:
- Set up your studio portrait lighting
- Guide your model through posing
- Select the best images and turn them into negatives for printing
- Mix chemicals and prepare your paper
- Expose and print cyanotype images
Minimum requirements
This workshop is open to any photographer with a minimum requirement of basic understanding of a camera. No darkroom or printing experience is required.
What to bring
- Digital camera and lens
- Hard drive or laptop for saving up files
- An apron
- Lunch (snacks and tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day).
Meet the team:
Ravi Chandarana, photographer
Ravi is a photographer focusing on the human experience and storytelling in portraiture. Each portrait is a process of discovery to connect with a person deeper than surface level.
Over a decade in the photographic industry working as a lighting assistant and photographer heβs worked for multi brands and artistic projects. In the workshop we will merge the technical and artistic elements to allow you to hone your own creativity in the process to make work unique to you.
Marion Gabrielle, photographer
Marion is a photographer and cyanotype print maker working across fashion, travel, and documentary photography. A doctoral researcher in Visual Culture, she teaches photography history and theory, as well as practical cyanotype workshops.Her current project Anamnesis explores the process of recapturing childhood and family memories through printing cyanotype images on different material - paper, glass, fabric.

Paheli is a multidisciplinary artist and dancer whose decade-long practice is rooted in Indian traditions. Combining her dancing and her expertise of Henna artistry (a tradition across India, Africa and the Middle East), her work explores movement and embodied expressions conveying stories of empowerment, identity, and culture.
At the end of the Masterclass, each participant will leave with the skills to light portraits in the studio, direct their model, make cyanotype prints, all of their own digital images shot during the workshop, and 5 of their own images printed as negatives and as cyanotypes.
