About this Event
The tide rolls in across the Brewster Flats. Your creation, gone. And that is the point.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn to sculpt with one of nature's most common materials - sand. You'll explore packing, layering, and carving techniques, work with both professional tools and improvised ones, and incorporate found objects from the shoreline - shells, stones, seaweed, driftwood - to create something that is distinctly of this place and this moment.
But this workshop is about more than technique. Sculpting in sand invites a different artistic mindset: one that trades perfectionism for presence, and permanence for play. When you know the tide is coming, every decision sharpens.
You'll leave without your sculpture - and with something better: a new relationship with impermanence, a set of practical sculpting skills, and the memory of making something beautiful precisely because it couldn't last.
No experience necessary. Just show up ready to get sandy and let go.
Ideal for artists, nature lovers, and curious makers of all levels.
