Women’s Intro to Fly Fishing Class, June 27 (National Women’s Fly Fishing Day!)
3-hour Classroom Instruction: This free class will be extremely beneficial before getting on the water, as it will help to build confidence, learn as a group and to maximize time on the water during the 101/201 courses. This course is recommended, but not required to attend the 101 and 201 courses. You can expect an introductory presentation, hands-on knot tying practice, and information on how to purchase the right gear.
Location: TBD
Fly Fishing 101, August 27
4-hour River Instruction: We will be either on the Weber or Provo rivers for this portion. This will be an introduction to fly fishing while being on the river. Participation in the classroom course is strongly recommended, but not required. Student to guide ratio is 3:1. Gear will be provided upon request.
Fly Fishing 201, August 29
4-hour River Instruction: We will be either on the Weber or Provo rivers for this portion. This will be an advanced introduction to fly fishing while being on the river. Participation in the 101 course is strongly recommended, but not required. Student to guide ratio is 3:1. Gear will be provided upon request.
Course cost:
The June 27 classroom course is free to all attendees with a suggested $10 donation to support SheJumps’ mission of increasing the participation of women and girls in the outdoors.
The river courses are $160 each, with scholarship options available. These courses typically cost $200-$230, but because of the generous support of Immerse Fly Fishing and a Nature and Human Health Utah grant, they are available to the SheJumps community at a reduced rate of $160 per course. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in scholarship opportunities.
Part of the grant arrangement enables this course series to be used for research on the benefits of all-women outdoor recreation programs. Please note that a University of Utah PhD candidate will be observing the courses, interviewing course participants, and conducting pre- and post-course surveys to support this research.

For the river sessions, participants can bring their own fishing gear or can borrow gear. Let us know if you need to borrow gear during checkout.
