This May, we welcome Tony and Jordan, also known as TJ’s Dwellings, a general contractor and a certified sustainable interior designer duo who specialize in van and travel trailer conversions.
Tony and Jordan find inspiration for their thoughtfully curated spaces at local vintage & reuse stores. They will share how stumbling upon a single element like a light, tile, or special piece of reclaimed lumber, can drive the entire design of a space.
"Shopping reuse items will always create a more beautiful, intriguing, unique, and meaningful space - period. It's the right thing to do but we also believe it's the better design choice too."
In their previous lives Tony and Jordan worked in advertising, but stronger passions for design, woodwork and crafting lead them to start a small business doing what they love to do. They've been converting vehicles since 2021, and most recently have started working on home remodel projects.
A love of the outdoors and nature is why they started converting vans in the first place. The duo lived and traveled in the first van they converted and realized how our modern lives are built to keep us away from nature, restricting when we can and can’t explore and distracting us from what is really important - how we spend our time, whom we spend it with, and how we impact our planet. Creating homes in such small places, they’ve learned a tremendous amount about spatial planning and functional design. A lot of what drives their design in both conversions and home projects, is how they can help clients live more simply and more beautifully so they can focus on things that really matter.
Tony and Jordan are inspired and driven by nature and by their local reuse stores where they find incredible building materials, tools, furniture and fixtures. Using locally sourced, renewable materials and shopping second-hand play a huge role in their process. Working with clients with aligned values allows them to do greatly creative things. There is nothing like the rush of finding the perfect reused piece for a client's needs.
Outside of building and designing, they are also students of regenerative agriculture, working on a small farm and future u-pick orchard where their workshop is located. From box trucks, to full home remodels, to problem solving your spatial woes... whatever the project, Tony and Jordan are so excited to continue servicing the PNW and finding their place in the industry.
