About this Event
Part of the UCL CIMEC Event Series:
Join us for the second event in our monthly series highlighting interdisciplinary research and collaboration across the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Our speaker, Dr Jo Blodgett is a Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health and the Department of Targeted Intervention (Division of Surgery and Interventional Science). Her research focuses on physical activity, women's health, and life course epidemiology, exploring the intersection of physical activity and health from both general population and athlete perspectives.
Jo is a key member of the Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting and Sleep consortium (ProPASS) Working Group, an international collaboration using accelerometery devices to study the effects of activity, posture, and sleep on health outcomes. Her groundbreaking work with ProPASS, emphasizing a 24-hour approach to all movement and activity, aims to contribute to shifting global activity guidelines and has gained global media attention including recently being featured on Good Morning America.
Jo will discuss:
- The journey from early career researcher to lead author on impactful studies.
- Insights into navigating international collaborations and managing large research consortia.
- Shifting paradigms in physical activity guidelines and the future of population health research.
- Lessons learned from translating complex research into media-friendly stories.
This session offers practical advice and personal insights into conducting impactful interdisciplinary research, navigating media attention, and fostering collaborations that drive real-world change.
This event is perfect for anyone currently involved in research, exploring opportunities to collaborate, or seeking inspiration to enhance their research journey.
