About this Event
On February 26th, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, join us at the Jesuit Centre in Mayfair, London, for an in-depth exploration of modern slavery, serious organised crime and the precarious migration of Albanians to the UK. This event brings together distinguished speakers from Albania and the UK Albanian Diaspora, offering unique insights into the cultural, social, and systemic factors contributing to these challenges.
Keynote speakers include Ms. Mariana Meshi, CEO of Different and Equal and a representative of the Coalition of Shelters in Albania; Ms. Ana Majko, CEO of Nisma Arsis, an emergency shelter for child victims of trafficking; and Ms. Ana Stakaj, Manager of Medaille Trust in Albania. From the UK Albanian Diaspora, speakers include Ms. Anta Brachou, Researcher at St Mary's University; Mr. Andi Hoxhaj OBE, Lecturer of Law at King’s College; and Mr. Edrin Gjoni, Home Office Engagement Lead.
The event will cover a range of topics, including the complexities of modern slavery, its links to serious organised crime and the migration patterns affecting both Albania and the UK. Designed for charities, law enforcement, migration agencies and policymakers, this session offers a platform for knowledge exchange, cultural understanding, and the development of informed strategies to tackle these pressing issues.
