EdSign are pleased to welcome Caroline McGrotty to present insights from her Master’s by Research, examining the experiences of deaf students, interpreters, and lecturers in Irish higher education. This qualitative study involved 21 participants and explored the triadic relationships between these stakeholders, focusing on how collaboration and communication shape inclusion. The presentation will discuss key themes and findings from the research such as effective working relationships, how experiences differ between single-student and co-enrolled settings, and recommendations for creating more inclusive educational environments.Caroline McGrotty is an accessibility professional from Ireland with over 18 years of experience in the disability sector and the Deaf community. She is currently Access Officer and Accessibility Specialist at ESB and previously held senior roles at AHEAD, working in inclusive recruitment, training, and disability inclusion policy. She holds a Diploma in Irish Sign Language Teaching, a Bachelor in Deaf Studies (Trinity College Dublin), and a Higher Certificate in Equality Studies and the Deaf Community (University College Dublin). Caroline has recently completed her Master’s by Research in Deaf Education at Dublin City University.
