Led by Petra White and Lilly Swanson.Join us for Shape & Spin, a hands-on experience designed for those with little to no experience with clay. Across two half-days, you’ll explore the foundations of both handbuilding and wheel throwing, learning essential techniques and creating your own pieces using each method.
On the second day, you’ll refine and decorate your work through trimming, finishing, and surface decoration techniques to add texture and personality. After the workshop, we’ll take care of glazing and firing your pieces, which will be ready to collect at a later date. This course is the perfect taster for anyone curious about pottery and looking for a relaxed, supportive introduction to a variety of ceramic techniques.
NOTE: Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please note that this workshop takes place over 2 afternoons and the ticket covers both sessions.
Petra White and Lilly Swanson are potters living and creating in Whakatū. They are both wheel-throwing tutors at Kiln Studio, as well as tutors for the kids hand-building at Nelson Community Potters, a class that they teach together after school.
They are both very passionate about sharing their love for clay with others.
This workshop is hosted by Kiln Studio, a vibrant ceramics space in the heart of Whakatū Nelson.
