About this Event
“Shangri-La-La” is a MUSICAL written by Mike Meier. Performs April 19th, at 3pm. (60 mins no intermission) This comedy musical set inside the glittering illusion of Las Vegas, follows Joshua, a wide-eyed young German who arrives in Sin City chasing reinvention, glamour, and escape. When he lands a job as assistant to legendary magicians Siegfried & Roy, Joshua believes he has found paradise … until he sees behind the sequins, spectacle, and carefully manufactured myths that power the city. Part satire, part love letter, Shangri-La-La celebrates Las Vegas as a place where illusion reigns supreme and survival depends on knowing when the show ends. This abbreviated one-hour festival version focuses squarely on Siegfried & Roy and their extraordinary reinvention in Las Vegas. Created as global icons to fill the 3,044 rooms of Steve Wynn’s Mirage Hotel, they helped usher in family-friendly entertainment: replacing topless showgirls with white tigers, an oversized dragon, and magic on an epic scale. Bold, irreverent, and visually playful, Shangri-La-La captures the moment when Las Vegas reinvented itself—and two performers became its most dazzling illusion.
