About this Event

SHAME, Let it go and Expanding:Psychological Body Work

Directed by Nora Hurm, Anastasia Coyto and Alexander Carrillo

The aim ist to enhance the awareness of certain emotional patterns, be conscious about the physical and mental presence to identify than in problematic situations. If we are conscious about our feelings and we are able to locate them in the body, we are able to influence them and react differently to them. In our daily life. In that way we gain more freedom as we get a chance to choose how we act, instead of repetitively falling into our emotional or behavioural patterns.

In our Workshop SHAME we work on the fear of being seen from others, the feeling of being wrong in our own deeper self and the urge to hide from others. Shame is like every other feeling necessary to us as humans, it helps us to live in a society and shape ourselves so we can live together in a group. Behind shame stands the fear of social exclusion, which motivates us to behave socially accepted or morally correct.

Hosts:

Alexander Carrillo Colombian-born and Berlin-based Choreographer, Producer and Performance Dance Teacher. Since 2011 has emerged in the knowledge of ancestral cultures and other methods of communication, social development and listening. He has been certified in MBSR ("Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction") by the Medicine School of Massachusetts. Carrillo also develops through meditation specific methods for body development, mind and spirit complemented with his artistic knowledge such as choreographer, dancer and body techniques. Currently he is writing a Method educational program of practises under his research of the last 12 years of “CUERPO PRESENTE: THE INNER BEAST”. Supported by the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland and GIZ GmbH International cooperation for countries development.

As an artist, Alexander having studied his diploma in Dance at the University Folkwang in Germany, did an Erasmus at ‘ArtEZ’, in Holland and at the University of Art ASAB in Colombia, (MA – emphasis in contemporary dance). Has creates also open platforms for artists. Launched the "DREIZIG Festival" in Berlin and DASEIN Series, site-specific world-project. He focuses his artistic research on the 'ugly' and grotesque in humans, seeing it as a mirror of reality. He questions ideas of 'beauty' and the role of the audience in the performing arts. In this perspective, he is investigating the influence of indigenous traditions and customs in western societies, from the essence of pure rituals until contemporary fashion and pop cultures. His work is developed through historical research with a contemporary point of view, looking into the personal, social and political through an interdisciplinary approach. Alexander explores the body, mind and soul spirit from different perspectives and has taught ‘CUERPO PRESENTE: The Inner Beast’ since 2012 in Belgium, Taiwan, Greece, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, and Germany.
