Back due to popular demand, we will once again be stepping back Step back in time with The Big Draw Patron, Gary Andrews (aka @GaryScribbler), for this Shakespeare-inspired sketchcrawl, blending the bustling and vibrant energy of modern London with the grit and grandeur of the Elizabethan era. Starting at St Paul’s Cathedral and finishing at the iconic Globe Theatre, this walk will take you through historic locations that Shakespeare himself would have known - though most may look rather different now!
As you sketch, you'll have the opportunity to capture the sights as they are today while envisioning what these streets, markets, and riverside scenes might have looked like in Shakespeare’s time. Gary will guide you through a combination of observational drawing and creative interpretation, encouraging you to see London through the Bard’s eyes while delving into the history of the city and the playwright and his enduring influence on literature and culture.
This tour is ideal for all creatives, history enthusiasts, and anyone who loves to combine sketching with storytelling. The sketchcrawl will last approximately 3 hours, so comfy shoes, warm clothing and an explorer’s spirit are essential! Sketching materials and sketchbooks will be provided so simply bring yourselves and prepare to immerse yourself in the world of Shakespeare.
This event is designed for adults and young people aged 16+, and open to all skill levels - from beginners to experienced sketchers!
We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes early in order to sign in and receive your materials. The event is limited to 20 participants, and we will send further details in the week leading up to the event.
