Attend a focused workshop on crafting a Shakespeare monologue for audition or performance, held at the Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin St in Madison, WI on Saturday November 9 from 11 AM - 3:30 PM.This event is aimed at performers of all experience levels who would like an opportunity to refine their approach to creating characters in Shakespeare, solicit feedback, and participate in discussion with area directors and actors.
Facilitators include:
- Sam D. White (director of Henry the Fifth for Madison Shakespeare Company and Twelfth Night [Taub] for Stoughton Village Players)
- Annie Jay (director of Love’s Labour’s Lost and A Valentine’s Affair 2025 for Madison Shakespeare Company)
- Lennox Forrester (director of Hamlet for multiple companies)
- Bri Baltes (director of Twelfth Night for StageQ)
Participants are strongly encouraged to prepare a Shakespearean monologue of up to two minutes in length and present it for feedback from the facilitators. Some curated monologue sources include:

This free event is offered to the south-central Wisconsin performing arts community by the facilitators, with the in-kind support of Madison Shakespeare Company’s production of The Blue Comet, performing November 1-9 at the Bartell Theatre.
