About this Event
Beyond the Block NYC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in Brooklyn, founded with one mission in mind: to provide inner-city youth with academic support, mentoring, enrichment activities, and life-changing opportunities—empowering them to go beyond the confines of their neighborhoods. Since our founding in 2022, we’ve proudly served hundreds of youth ages 12–18 through dynamic events like our Back-to-School Block Party, Prom Prep Giveaway, and Beyond the Briefcase Career Panel.
Shake the City is our public declaration to denounce violence. We intentionally designed it as a summer send-off and day of intergenerational play so youth, families, and elders come together to connect, celebrate and build community. With activities like relay races, double dutch, tug-of-war, music, and free giveaways, we create a space where children and families can put their phones down and be fully present.
