Mental health is everyone’s business, yet 1 in 5 of us will experience a mental health disorder every year, often in silence! This alone screams ‘Help! Something has to change’. In 2025, approximately nine people were lost per day by suicide in Australia.
By the end of January this year, we had lost over 80,000 people world wide. This Heartbreaking to say the least!!!
The Shaka project was created with one mission in mind, to ignite the conversation, crush the stigma and change the stats on Suicide here in Australia.
Through lived experience of Mental Health and Suicide, the hearts and souls behind the Shaka Project decided they wanted to put their pain into passion and to help those experiencing mental health concerns, to encourage others to seek help and to normalise and spread the conversation that it’s definitely okay, not to be okay!.
We invite members of our community to join together to help continue their mission and conversation and assist in changing the stigma, and the heart breaking stats around mental health.
Head on down to the Grenfell Bowling Club at 6.30 pm, grab a drink and a sausage “sanga” and listen first hand, what the Shaka team have to say, from 7 pm.
Merch will be available on site.
This is a Free of charge event (however a gold coin donation would be greatly appreciated). A raffle and 100’s club will also take place leading up to the event.
All donations and money received will go directly to The Shaka project to assist in continuing their mission, one conversation at a time. It will also enable them to visit other communities across Australia, just like us.
All attendees must be over the age of 16 years. Some topics and points of discussion can be confronting.
Feel free to reach out to Sarah and Eloise if you have any questions 😊
