About the Soul Center of Art and History:
The Soul Center, a community-led museum for Black history and art housed within the Afri-Soul Education Center since 2023, functions as a traditional museum—hosting exhibits, offering community workshops and classes, and preserving and displaying history and culture. We are a model for communities of color seeking to steward their own narratives, entirely community-led, and we intentionally implement lessons from the past to advance our community.
Designed as an intergenerational space, the Soul Center fosters the free flow of wisdom between generations, where we all learn from each other's experiences. This shared knowledge strengthens our community by applying lessons learned from our past. We honor our oral traditions through film and storytelling, prioritizing lived experience and direct impact in the stories we share.Â
