Director Biography - Kyvon Edwin
Kyvon Edwin is a native Saint Lucian currently based in New York as an award winning actor, writer and filmmaker. He is an alumnus of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute as an Eleanora Duse Scholar. Over the past few years his work has been featured at American Black Film Festival, Martha’s African American Vineyard Film Festival, Hip Hop Film Festival, Bronzelens Film Festival and the Festival de Cannes among others. He’s also nabbed a few Best Actor awards from Hip Hop Film Festival and Circle City Film Festival to name a few. Recent film credits include: Lettre La, 27 Candles, Winston, The Island, Crush and Black Magic For White Boys.

“Light In Us Dark Ones,” a feature film directed by U.S. Navy Veteran Alicia "Ali" Buckner, tells the story of VISIONS co-founder, Dr. Valerie Batts’ early life. Inspired by true events, the film crafts a narrative of a young woman whose upbringing and connection to family and community leads her to take on big challenges and begin building a legacy of healing in a world steeped in division.
Director Biography - Alicia Buckner
was born and raised in New York. Ali studied architecture at Hampton University in Virginia before enlisting in the United States Navy. Before completing service, she created Fôlsheart Productions which was established in early 2018. Her vision is to continue to create "impact films" that get conversations going, to help communities progress and engage in thoughts and ideas that may be unfamiliar to them. She has produced, directed, written and edited a number of films and pieces for non-profit organizations and businesses across the United States. She has always been interested in acting and makes cameos in her films Alfred Hitchcock style from time to time. Ali has won a number of awards across the globe for her films in areas like London, Berlin, Sweden, Los Angeles, Toronto, Argentina, New York, India, Paris, Mykonos, Venice and many more for Best Director, Best Producer and Best Film. Her production company houses a diverse group of film lovers who understand the mission of Folsheart and want to help change hearts and minds together.
