Monthly field trip of the Sioux Falls Bird Club. We will meet at the Outdoor Campus (4500 S Oxbow Ave) at 7:30 a.m. to organize carpooling, and then will head to Newton Hills State Park to look for woodland birds (warblers, orioles, tanagers, flycatchers, and more). We will do some slow walking on the C and D trails from the horse camp, which are fairly flat but a mix of gravel, dirt, and grass surfaces. Probably about 1 mile of total distance covered. Historically this area is where the rare Blue-winged and Hooded Warblers have been found. For anyone who does not want to walk much, we can also arrange a group to hang out at the picnic shelter near where the D trail crosses the paved park road, as there can be lots of birds right there also.
We will aim to be back to the OC around midday. You do not need to be a club member to attend, all are welcome.
