About this Event

Join artist Anney Bounpraseuth for a creative take on embroidery. This beginner-friendly workshop reimagines traditional techniques through colour, shape and layered textiles. No prior experience is required, and all materials are provided.

Inspired by traditional Dhaka textiles from Nepal, this hands-on session introduces participants to the beauty of bold colours and geometric patterns. You will learn how to design your own shapes using simple tools, layer fabric through appliqué techniques, and complete your work with basic decorative stitching.

This program is linked to our permanent exhibition ‘Woven from a hundred flowers’, offering a creative way to connect with the themes and stories presented in the gallery. The exhibition will be on display until 30 August 2026, more information here: Georges River Council - Woven from a hundred flowers

Note: Participants are welcome to bring a small piece of non-stretch fabric from home such as an old shirt, to incorporate into their artwork or share with others.
