Our Serenad Series celebrates Haitian social and cultural expression in its many forms, including the power of poetry to connect us personally, professionally, and communally. This evening promises to be an inspiring and dynamic celebration of the written and spoken word.
The program will feature captivating poetry performances rooted in culture, identity, and shared experiences, along with a special acoustic delivery by Darleeda. Together, these moments will invite reflection, storytelling, and a deep sense of connection through art.
The evening will conclude with networking—both professional and social—along with music and light dancing, creating space to connect, unwind, and celebrate community through poetry and creative expression.
General Public Admission: $20 in advance, $30 at door

Featured Poet: Wilny Edouard
Wilny Edouard, a gifted poet and author of the highly praised poetry collection "Kè M Sou Papye", has navigated a dynamic academic journey, blending philosophical studies at Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS)/Université d’Etat D’Haiti with criminology at the University of Maryland, College Park, Florida State University, and as a PhD student at Liberty University. Mr. Edouard's passion for literature and Haitian Creole is equaled by his commitment to his three boys and the joy of cooking Haitian meals for them.
Featured Poet: Tharma Philogene
Originally from Haiti, Tharma Philogene began her academic journey at Montgomery College, where she excelled as a Renaissance Scholar and became a published poet in The Sligo Journal. She later earned her degree in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore as a Featherstone Scholar.
She began writing in the 9th grade, discovering her passion for expressing emotions and creating meaningful work through poetry.
Professionally, she has experience supporting accounting, operations, and academic services in both academic and nonprofit settings.
Featured Poet: Vynou Philogene
Vynou Philogene is a first-year college student, majoring in global health and pursuing a certificate in environmental soil science. She started writing poems in her junior year of school and competed in ACT-SO. Through her writing, Vynou hopes to connect with others and express her thoughts and emotions. It has also allowed her to grow as a writer by exploring different styles of writing and reflecting on her personal experience. Outside of poetry, Vynou enjoys walking in nature especially by the lake, watching shows, and spending time with friends. These experiences continue to influence her perspectives and shape new ideas.

Ezéchias François est doctorant en Science de l'Éducation de l'Université Américaine TECANA et détient un Master Arts, Letters, Langues de l'Université des Antilles. Il a publié : Douleur de violon; Jounal modpas; Resonnance des rues; Au delà de ton corps... Il a un long parcours en tant que professeur, correcteur, et auteur de nombreux livres.
Featured Poet: Tètpwav Solèy
Tètpwav Solèy is a multidisciplinary Haitian artist who blends painting, graphics, music, and spoken word to explore resilience, cultural memory, and social consciousness. Rooted in Cité Soleil, his work uses bold visuals and storytelling to highlight strength within marginalized communities while inspiring youth to see art as a path to empowerment.
Also performing as Pwavoloji, he creates music and spoken word in Haitian Creole that mixes poetry, rhythm, and social commentary. His work—released on platforms like SoundCloud, Deezer, and YouTube—focuses on themes such as identity, morality, and community, often incorporating traditional storytelling and collaborative elements.
Featured Poet: Fred Williams
Fred Williams is an educator and author with a doctorate in language didactics from the Université de Montréal. He has taught French and literature in Québec and later at Howard University, and also worked in radio communications at the Voice of America. A committed advocate for educational excellence and intercultural dialogue, Williams brings a compassion‑driven lens to both his teaching and his writing. He is the author of Cantate pour des matins de rosée, a contemplative and poetic work that explores the simple factualities of existence and their quiet lessons in dignity, fraternity, and spirituality.
Featured Poet: Adele Pierre-Paul Williams
Adele Pierre-Paul Williams is a seasoned actress and multidisciplinary artist who studied under the tutelage of renowned French director Gabriel Imbert at the Conservatoire National d’Art Dramatique in Haiti, where she graduated with honors.
A former member of La Société Culturelle d’Art Dramatique (SCAD), she played an active role in numerous theatrical productions in Port‑au‑Prince, contributing both as an organizer and as a performer. After immigrating to Montreal, Canada, Adele joined the Haitian‑Canadian troupe Les Amis du Théâtre, where she continued to act and also directed several productions.
Following a respected career with the International Finance Corporation in Washington, D.C., Adele has continued to nurture her artistic passions through music, poetry readings, and voice‑over work.
