About this Event
My name is Kurticiah Thompson and I’m a self taught dancer and choreographer. I have been performing around the Capital District for over 15 years. I enjoy teaching and watching the confidence in my students increase over the time we work together.
Pre-Covid I taught a heels class called Prissy in Pumps with my best friend. This two year break from dancing was extremely rough for me as I used dance as my outlet. I lived vicariously through dancers on YouTube and Instagram but I knew I wanted to get back into the studio.
After a couple of days listening to some music and creating new choreography, I felt confident enough to go back to Albany Dance and Fitness to provide a heel dance class again.
My hope is that people who are interested in this heel class will be surprised and comfortable in the way they feel in their bodies learning the moves. I want to provide a safe space to be vulnerable and release a new /different side of yourself.
18 and older are encouraged to participate. I have had the pleasure of having some 50 year old students, so do not let age be the thing that stops you from trying something new.
Heels are optional but if you do plan to wear some, please wear heels with ankle support that you feel comfortable walking in. The class will incorporate jazz and hip hop elements, so be prepared to move shake and body roll.
There will be time at the end of class for you to have your performance recorded. So wear what feels comfortable and brings out that wild side. Wigs and sexy wardrobe are acceptable!
Get yourself some KNEEPADS because there will be floorwork ;)
Music selections will vary!
Heels with black bottoms that leave scuff marks on the floor are not allowed!
