Join us for an extraordinary community celebration as Newcastle attempts to bring together the largest gathering of people practicing chair yoga. This inclusive, intergenerational event forms part of the 2026 Seniors Festival and is proudly supported by City of Newcastle and SALA Newcastle.Led by Mel Keerie, founder of Newcastle’s First Sound Lounge and Therapy Studio and a qualified yoga instructor, the 30 minute session invites participants of all ages and abilities to enjoy a gentle, accessible, and uplifting chair‑supported yoga class. No prior experience is required and everyone is encouraged to move at their own pace.
Chair Yoga incorporates soft stretching, mobility exercises, breathwork and relaxation designed to support flexibility, circulation, balance, posture and overall wellbeing in a safe, welcoming environment.
What to Expect:
• Participant arrival from 9am for a 10am Chair Yoga start. BYO chair essential.
• 10-10.30am: A fun and relaxed 30 minute guided Chair Yoga session suitable for all ages and abilities.
• 10.30am-12pm: Wellness stalls, demonstrations on stage and opportunities to explore local wellness and lifestyle services.
