Seminar Title: Leveraging quantum technologies and algorithms for advancing quantum chemistry and life science applications

Abstract: Quantum technologies and algorithms are rapidly emerging as powerful tools for revolutionizing various scientific disciplines, particularly in the realm of quantum chemistry. At Algorithmiq, we develop unique quantum software that makes near-term quantum computers useful, enabling them to solve real-world problems. Our software provides powerful, energy-efficient solutions to computationally demanding problems for many industries. We see the biggest impact in healthcare and life sciences. Unlike traditional approaches that treat hardware and software as separate entities, Algorithmiq’s approach is to co-design them to work synergistically. This integrated approach ensures maximum efficiency, scalability, and performance. Whether it’s compiling quantum algorithms or mitigating errors, we aim at tailoring every component to extract the full potential of quantum hardware.

In this talk, I would like to go a little more in the details of how we operate in selecting relevant case studies for life-sciences, developing efficient pipelines for both carrying out careful ‘classical’ benchmarking and efficient and meaningful experiments on real quantum computers. Special focus will be given to their role in advancing photodynamic therapy (PDT), a cutting-edge treatment modality in oncology. By simulating molecular interactions and optimizing light-activated molecules, quantum algorithms could pave the way for more precise, effective, and personalized PDT approaches, marking a significant step forward in the intersection of quantum computing and healthcare.
