About this Event
This is a CMD CofE clergy only seminar
Led by The Revd Dr Earl Collins
In this seminar we will look at the history and theology of the Old Catholic Church (‘The churches of the Union of Utrecht’), with which the Church of England has been in full communion since 1931. Though sometimes called ‘Catholicism without the Pope’ the Old Catholic tradition is much more than that since it draws not only on western tradition but also on the theology of the Orthodox Church.
Though small in numbers, its ecumenical witness in Global Christianity far exceeds its size. Anglicans can learn much from a sister-church that seeks both to unite east and west and that emphasises the constant need for local witness and universal communion.
