About this Event
Are you a Black or Brown educator, social worker, nurse, activist, or other professional whose work focuses on serving others?
If so, this retreat is for you! We want to pour back into the people that give so much of themselves to improve the lives of others. This particular retreat is focusing on people of colour because in addition to the work that they do, they often have to manage "microaggressions" in the workplace, adding another layer of stress and strain that needs to be addressed.
As a formerly burned out educator and social worker myself, I know how exhausting and thankless public service work can be, especially as a Black women working in mostly white spaces. I also know the guilt that can set in when we feel that we aren't able to do more.
This retreat will help you to get regrounded, set better boundaries, and create feasible self-care and wellness routines to reduce burn-out and resentment, so you can continue to do meaningful work with balance.
Best of all, you don't even have to leave the city to experience this as we are located right across from Walthamstow Central Station.
The day will consist of:
-Welcome and Breakfast
-Mediation and breath work
-Nature focused grounding activities
-Remembering Joy: creative expression and exploration
-Rooftop Lunch
-Discussions about how to implement healthy boundaries with work
-Discussions about reducing feeling of guilt for choosing ourselves and saying "no" when we need to
-Making a feasible and affordable self-care plan
-Movement and physical expression
-Closing Circle & gift bags
