Jun 17: Day One (lots 1001-1328)
MODERN ART & DESIGN | POST-WAR & CONTEMPORARY ART | PHOTOGRAPHY
Featuring a collection of Modern Design from a Peter Marino private commission, including a De Sede “Non-Stop” sofa, Vittorio Introini wall units, and a Laverne “Etruscan” coffee table. Accompanied by photography, art, and design from the estate of Michael Hampton, whose collection reflects his life amongst the 1960s avant-garde of downtown NYC, including works by Cindy Sherman, Lucas Samaras, and Irving Penn. An extensive selection of Post-War and Contemporary art includes Lucian Freud etchings, an Eric Fischl oil wash, and an Andy Warhol ink drawing. Interspersed throughout is a collection of artist’s books featuring Ed Ruscha, Vija Celmins, and William Katz. Other highlights include a large Arman bronze sculpture, Yoshiaki Mochizuki platinum leaf on panel, and exhibited Ellsworth Kelly works on paper.

Highlights from the Chinese and Japanese collection include Peking Opera silk curtains from the estate of Iris Apfel, calligraphy brushes, Shiko Munakata woodblocks, and Meiji period katanas. American art and antiques feature a rare Bruce Moore for Steuben glass bowl, a Walter Granville-Smith oil painting deaccessioned to benefit the Toledo Museum of Art, a Raphael Soyer portrait of Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary from her personal collection, and an American Chippendale block-front secretary. British art and antiques include an Erskine Nicol oil painting deaccessioned to benefit the Arizona State University Art Museum, Dr. Robert John Thornton botanical engravings, and attributed Ince & Mayhew George III armchairs. Notable highlights from a prominent NYC family foundation include dinosaur bones and fossils, as well as the 1909 Aeolian Baby Grand Piano from the childhood home of Jackie Kennedy. The day concludes with a collection of books and ephemera, including Dwight D. Eisenhower signed D-Day papers.
Jun 19: Day Three (lots 3001-3315)

Continental art highlights include a Rembrandt van Rijn etching, Thomas Couture oil painting, Ramon Palorda Perez porcelain plaque, and Pierre Traverse bronze sculpture. The Impressionist and Modern art selection features a Marc Chagall lithograph, Pablo Picasso etching, and Francis Picabia ink drawing. An exemplary offering of Continental furniture and design features a Dutch Baroque inlaid cabinet on stand and Louis XIV boulle bureau Mazarin from an important private New York collection, a Paul Sormani partner’s desk, and an Albert Cheuret “Cactus” chandelier. Interspersed are Middle Eastern pottery and textiles deaccessioned from the Toledo Museum of Art, including Mina’i bowls, Safavid tiles, and an Ottoman voided velvet panel. Special highlights include a Luigi Bajoni Italian violin and a Neoclassic faience stove from the home of a lady friend of Emperor Franz Joseph.
