Join us for a very special Seisiún Saturday led by acclaimed guest artists Brian Conway and Cate Sandstrom, two outstanding musicians from the heart of the New York Irish music scene.
This evening blends the spirit of a great Irish session with the artistry of a featured performance. Brian and Cate will host and lead the session, welcoming players and listeners alike into a night of shared tunes, tradition, and community.
Brian Conway is a premier Irish-American fiddler and a leading exponent of the New York–Sligo style. A Smithsonian/Folkways recording artist and multiple All-Ireland champion, Brian carries a rich musical lineage as a direct student of legendary fiddlers Martin Wynne and Andy McGann—himself a student of the great Michael Coleman. His most recent album, Wallace Avenue, reflects both deep tradition and living transmission, featuring collaborations with fellow musicians and students.
For part of the evening, Brian will be joined by Cate Sandstrom, celebrating the time-honored Irish fiddle duet tradition. Based in New York, Cate is known for her expressive playing, versatility, and deep commitment to traditional Irish music. She performs with McLean Avenue Band, teaches widely, and appears on Wallace Avenue, bringing both drive and sensitivity to the music.
