All adults are invited to join us for a special Seder service from 6:00-8:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. The EPIC KIDS will also be having a Seder adapted to kids during the same time in the EPIC building. The Seder service is inspired by the Passover meal and has been prepared through a Christian lens to commemorate the Last Supper. Our Seder service will serve as a bridge between the Old Testament story of the Exodus and the New Testament narrative of Jesus’ death and resurrection, emphasizing his role as the ultimate fulfillment of the Passover sacrifice.
The purpose of the Seder is not only to recall the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian bondage but also to celebrate Jesus as the sacrifice that has delivered humanity from the slavery of sin.
Seder meals traditionally include scripture readings and familiar items like matzah (unleavened bread), bitter herbs, a lamb shank bone, and grape juice, arranged on a Seder plate. These elements are often tied to the Eucharist (Communion). The matzah, for instance, may symbolize Jesus’ body, broken for humanity, while the grape juice represents his blood, shed for the forgiveness of sins, echoing the words Jesus spoke at the Last Supper (Matthew 26:26-28).
