About this Event
The Devon Mental Health Alliance is proud to be working in partnership with the Trauma Informed Plymouth Network.
Initially in response to the pandemic, the Trauma Informed Plymouth Network developed a reflective session Same Storm Different Boats. This session provides opportunities to consider the difference between burnout, vicarious trauma, secondary trauma and compassion fatigue and to consider the impact on the workforce of supporting those who have experienced or are experiencing trauma.
Many people gravitate towards the caring professions because of their own experiences of trauma, adversity & social injustice & then repeatedly bear witness to people’s suffering & struggle through their work, often whilst working within incredibly challenging environments & work cultures.
This 3-hour reflective workshop provides the space to come together & reflect on how people might respond differently to trauma & to consider the value of collective & organisational care (rather than self-cognition of the importance of time and space with no agenda other than what are).
Included in the session is an hour at the end for attendees to spend in whatever way they choose, in recognition of the importance of carving out space and time with no agenda other than having the time and space itself.
Further courses are available if you can't make this date, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
