The Second Century Society is a group within the Clemson Alumni Association that gathers 5 times a year over lunch to hear from Clemson reps
About this Event

Have you heard of the Second Century Society? If you’ve been a past member, you already know what a great opportunity this club offers for keeping in touch with Clemson University.

If you aren’t a past member, let me fill you in: In 1989, a dedicated group of Clemson alumni and friends in the Columbia area formed an organization called The Second Century Society. Their goal was to provide a forum for Clemson to share its message with alumni and friends of Clemson. It is a networking opportunity as well as an opportunity to learn what is going on in the academic and research fields at our school and what you can do to help Clemson accomplish its mission. Membership is open to all that share an interest in Clemson.

As we launch our 2024-2025 membership drive, I extend to you a sincere invitation to join us!

Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 1 for our first lunch of the 2024/2025 season. We are so excited to announce we’ll be kicking off the season with Clemson University's Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer, Tony Wagner.

While we are still building out the schedule for the 2024/2025 season, we will continue to meet on Tuesdays at lunch around the following times of the year:

  • Tuesday, October 1 | Tony Wagner, Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer, Clemson University
  • December 2024 (day TBD) | Speaker TBD
  • January 2025 (day TBD) | Speaker TBD
  • March 2025 (day TBD) | Speaker TBD
  • May 2025 (day TBD) | Speaker TBD

I am excited to announce we will be meeting at The Hall at Senate’s End again this year. This building is located at 316 Senate Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Reminder that our doors open at 11:45 AM and we encourage you to arrive and network with other guests. There are many new Clemson friends in the Midlands SC area. Bring someone new and introduce them to others! The program begins at approximately 12:00 and ends promptly at 1:00.

The full-year membership to all 5 lunch meetings this year is $120. Your membership fee covers the cost of your meals at each meeting and administrative costs for the club, and a $5 gift to Clemson for the Second Century Society Annual Scholarship that supports students in our local area. Our goal each year is to give back $2,000 for scholarship. You will receive notices two to three weeks prior to each meeting as a reminder.

Single lunches or guest lunches can be purchased for $25.

*Young Alumni Discount (if you’ve graduated in the last 10 years): Young Alumni can receive a $5 discount on a single lunch at just $20. No discount code needed, just select YA Lunch at checkout and enter graduation year.

There are two easy ways to join as a member this year:

2) MAIL A CHECK: mail a check made out to the Clemson Alumni Association for $120 and the enclosed form to 109 Daniel Drive, Clemson, SC 29631 attn: Evan McDow. Checks must be post marked by September 26, 2024 in order to receive and process the order in time to guarantee your reserved space.
