YARNBOMBING PLAN FOR PRIDE:
We will be yarnbombing the smaller lamp posts on Main Street along 3 blocks (1200-1400). Your creations need to be 3 to 6 feet tall and wide enough to go around a 19.5 inch pole. I usually shoot for 16 or so inches (wide), but it ultimately depends on how stretchy your piece is (more details at the bottom). Go bright, be creative, and other than that, have fun with it and do your own thing to celebrate SC Pride!
From the base of the column to the first set of metal arms is 6 feet, so that is the max height for our pieces. At the base, the column is about 19.5 inches in circumference. At the top, the column is about 17.5 inches around. The pole is slightly tapered. To get a snug sleeve for the pole, you'll want to make your piece(s) a little smaller width-wise so they can be pulled around the pole when they are installed to help keep them in place. I usually shoot for 16 or so inches, but it ultimately depends on how stretchy your piece is. When installing your piece, yarn handles/suspenders can be attached to the top of the piece and wrapped around the metal arms to keep it from sliding down the pole. We want everyone’s pieces to be at least 3 feet tall (up to 6 feet). Lastly, cheap acrylic yarn works the best! Your piece will be out in the weather for several weeks, so avoid natural fibers that hold water.
