About this Event
We are thrilled to welcome Amal El-Mohtar to Blackwell's to discuss her short story collection Seasons of Glass & Iron, full of strange worlds and fairytales from the author of This Is How You Lose The Time War. Amal will be in conversation with Eliza Chan (Fathomfolk, Tideborn).
Doors: 6.30pm, Starts: 6.45pm
Tickets are £4 or admission is free when purchasing a copy of the book in advance.
About the book:
Full of glimpses into gleaming worlds and fairy tales with teeth, Seasons of Glass & Iron is a restlessly inventive masterclass in speculative fiction writing.
With confidence and style, El-Mohtar guides us through exquisitely told and sharply observed tales about life as it is, was, and could be. Like miscellany from other worlds, these stories are told in letters, diary entries, reference materials, folktales, and lyrical prose.
About the author:
Amal El-Mohtar is an award-winning writer of fiction, poetry, and criticism. She is co-author, with Max Gladstone, of the multiple award-winning This is How You Lose the Time War. Her articles and reviews have appeared in the New York Times, NPR Books and on Tor.com. She has been the New York Times's science fiction and fantasy columnist since February 2018, and she is represented by DongWon Song of HMLA.
If you cannot make the event but would like a dedicated copy of the book, please email [email protected] or call us on 0161 274 3331.
Our event format is usually a 45 minute discussion between the author and interviewer, followed by a chance for audience members to ask questions. There will be the opportunity to get your book signed/dedicated after the event. Events are a brilliant opportunity to discover new books, meet authors and likeminded readers and learn something new.
